LISTEN to Episode 14 of Life’s Best Medicine on iTunes

Thank you for tuning in for another episode of Life’s Best Medicine. Today, we are joined by Dr. Peter Ballerstedt—a forage agronomist and ruminant nutritionist. He earned his undergraduate and masters degrees from the University of Georgia, and his doctorate from the University of Kentucky. He was the forage extension specialist at Oregon State University and has worked in the forage seed industry since 2011.

Peter’s study of human nutrition is fueled by his personal experience. What he’s learned doesn’t agree with the dietary advice we’ve been given for more than 50 years. This understanding, combined with his forage background, has strengthened his interest in THE truly sustainable agriculture – the production of ruminant animal products.

In our discussion today, we talk about the importance of presenting and receiving information in such a way that is honest and not skewed or hyperbolized so that people are able to make their own informed decisions based on the data presented.

Additionally, we discuss the supposed “conflict” between the life of science and the life of faith. How can a scientist who is also a person of faith stay grounded in that faith while working in a scientific field? Dr. Ballerstedt shares his perspective on this question. We discuss human beings from a theological/ethical perspective, discerning God-given purposes for one’s life, and how to work through addiction, anxiety, and self-doubt.
