Dr. Jason Fung is a nephrologist and world-renowned expert on intermittent fasting, low carb, and diet as a therapeutic intervention for people with type 2 diabetes. He is a three-time best-selling author and has been instrumental in bringing the knowledge of the benefits of fasting and low carb to the masses.
In this episode, Dr. Fung talks with Brian about his childhood, education, how he came to be interested in nephrology and nutrition, the studies and research that led to the paradigm shift in his thinking with regard to treating patients with metabolic disease, the definition of a good teacher, conflicts of interest in the pharmaceutical and medical industries, and how he was able to get his message out to people directly without going through traditional, academic channels.
Additionally, Jason and Brian discuss what drives them to persevere in the face of adversity and opposition, the importance of having a positive attitude and message, and the importance of being respectful and having integrity.
Life’s Best Medicine According to Jason: “Don’t focus on yourself. What helps you is not helping yourself; you need to help somebody else. That is the only thing that is going to make you feel good about you. Go help somebody else. What you will find is that you will start to feel a lot better. When you start to attack somebody else you don’t feel any better.”
Thank you for listening. Have a blessed day and stay healthy!
